HEAT heads to HEB for a day of shopping -- Sat., Sept. 19

 Put on your fancy shoes, grab your best buggy and let's go shopping!

Do you find yourself regularly wandering down the grocery store aisles, confused by product marketing that says "HEALTHY," "LOTS OF FIBER" and "LOW IN FAT"? Many companies have jumped on the bandwagon and are trying to convince you that their product is good for you ... or healthy. 

Let's use beloved our Starbucks' "reduced fat" cinnamon coffee cake as an example. (No, nothing is sacred.) This deliciousness used to be twice the size, so Starbucks cut it in half and now can honestly brand it as ... you guessed it, reduced fat. (Lord knows you get me through the morning SB, but come on!)

If you're just not sure what you should be putting into your shopping cart, come join me and food guru Caleb Marshall for a walk down the HEB aisles.

The Perfect Meal... YUMMMMMY

 Many of you have been asking about quick meals that can be stored and reheated, or simply take just a few minutes to make at the end of your long day.  This dish -- which we have named "Mush" -- is the perfect blend of a protien/carbs/fat and takes only moments to prepare.

  • 1 lb of ground lean turkey (brown the meat)
  • 1 can of black beans (drain the juice)
  • 1-2 cups of salsa (you decide your flavor)
  • 1/2 of a bell pepper
  • pinch of pepper

Mix it all up and BAMMM! You have din-din, ready to go.  Enjoy!

HEAT BOOT CAMP WORKOUT MOVED INDOORS -- ONE HOUR LATER DUE TO CHANCE OF RAIN!

Location: The RunTex Annex (regular location)

Time: 10:00 a.m.

To bring: Water

The workout: Well gang, it looks like you get a double whammy of good 'ole fashion boot camp. We are going to do a little hardcore circuit training. Get your rest Friday ... this one is going to be a level 4! :)
