RACE TO MUMMY MOUNTAIN -- BOOOOO CAMP

clock October 29, 2009 08:32 by author codybutler

In a final effort to lay the mummy to rest, your team must fight through the body carving pumpkin patch, cross the evil grave yard, mix the magic witches' brew, descend through the spiders' den and ultimately reach Mummy Mountain.

To Bring on your Quest:

  • Your ghoulish, most creative fitness or health-related costume (most creative wins 15% off their next camp )
  • Shoes and attire that can get muddy
  • Water

The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. (you must arrive early, no late attendance will be permitted)! Due to the nature of the race, camp may last anywhere between 1 to 1.5 hours. We will meet at the dirt lot underneath the Mopac bridge, which is accessible off Barton Springs Road. Turn onto Stafford Drive at the edge of Zilker Park. Please figure out where you're going ahead of time! (This is on the opposite side of river from Austin High.)

Some really cool prizes, provided by Austin Fit Magazine, will be awarded to the winning team -- and to the most creative costume.

Har Har Har Haaaaaa (evil laugh)!!!!

Hula hooping is back ... and not just at Lustre Pearl on Saturday nights! Hollywood stars like Marisa Tomei, Beyonce and Liv Tyler are picking up the '50s and '60s "toy" as a form of exercise, these days, working their butts, hips and cores. Best of all, it's a fun (read: not monotonous) exercise you can do outside, with kids or practically anywhere! [Read the rest

That's right, your favorite frosty beverage (well, ok, maybe not your favorite ... but a close second) has rolled out new, 90-calorie mini-cans. "The 7.5-ounce cans will first be rolled out in New York and Washington D.C. in December. The rest of the nation should see the petite servings by March. Professional Assessment -- HIT CENTER AUSTIN

clock October 23, 2009 10:50 by author codybutler

When I asked, "Would you like a body assessment?" I was not sharing a pickup line. (HA HA!)

I am offering you a unique opportunity to have a professional assessment that measures your body fat, Vo2 max, strength and endurance capabilities.  The facility is absolutely amazing and is where many pro athletes train.

As a personal trainer, I am truly limited in how accurate my testing measures can be. (YES, I ADMIT IT!) And, to be honest, no trainer can give you a true measurements using calibers and a scale.  So, to give you the best, we have teamed up with the HIT CENTER OF AUSTIN to provide you with an assessment that most trainers only dream of. Normally, the cost is $100+, but for HEAT members, it is only $25. The test is something that myself and the HIT center put together, based on what I thought would be relative to you. This is not a generic test, nor do I receive any cash for you going ... IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU. Call the HIT CENTER and schedule an appointment. You'll need to call before Nov. 1, although you can schedule your appointment anytime from now until Dec. 20.
