Speaking of nutrition: What are the top 10 reasons you over-eat?

Since we've been talking about nutrition this week -- and getting back on track for that summer bod you want -- here's a great piece about the top 10 reasons most of us fall so easily into the trap of eating more than we actually need.

 

The idea is that if you know why you overeat, you can avoid doing it by removing some of these enablers from your life. Major contributors include constant access to food, massive portions (especially in Texas), distracting yourself with the TV while you snarf down dinner, and skipping meals during the day, which leads you to binge at dinnertime. {Read the rest}

Why do rock gods look so svelte? This hilarious NPR piece says it's because they shred so hard on stage. Check out classic footage of some of the greats getting their workouts in at the mic. I wouldn't recommend following directly in their footsteps though -- Jack Daniels is not the best recovery drink I can think of. {Read the rest}


Saturday, April 24 Workout -- Warehouse'in it!

Boooooooo! The weather report for tomorrow foretells scattered thunderstorms and no sun 'til later in the day. Mother Nature clearly has it out for our weekend boot camps. Soon we shall swim, kayak, and play Hooverball once again, but for now, Saturday's camp will take place at The Warehouse at 9 a.m.

Stealing a little time from your workday for exercise might help you get more done at the office. New research shows that exercising your body also works out your brain, boosting cognitive function, creativity, problem solving and productivity. A NASA study even proved that employees who exercised daily worked at 100% efficiency after 7 hours, while those who didn't saw a 50% drop -- meaning it took them twice as long to accomplish the same task.
