HEAT Coach | Personal Trainer
I am a born and raised Texan, however, maybe not the kind of Texan most people think of. I grew up on North Padre Island, about 5 minutes from the beach. I have always been active. As a child, I was in ballet. I started practicing Yoga with my mom when I was 12. Then, I played basketball and volleyball in high school. And of course, I was always in the water. I also received classical vocal lessons from the age of 11 until my freshman year of college at A&M Corpus Christi where I studied vocal performance. I am still infatuated with all types of music but I am currently working on a Psychology degree from ACC.
My first love was Yoga, which helped me understand the need for balance in all aspects of life. However, my passion for healthy living really bloomed when my husband and I moved to Austin in 2009. I experienced, first hand, how our bodies and minds are capable of change through education, dedication and hard work. I absolutely fell in love with kickboxing and I started practicing every day. I also revamped my Yoga practice. I ended up losing 30 pounds and I felt amazing and invincible. With that sense of accomplishment, I branched out into as many different types of exercise that I could, and it was then that I knew I wanted to enter the fitness field and help other people find the same sense of accomplishment, pride and gratitude.
Through my journey to become a personal trainer and fitness instructor, I learned that the human body is capable of so much more than weight loss and strength gain. You can improve posture! You can train your heart to be more efficient! You can eliminate chronic pain! The possibilities are endless! Once you understand how the body works, everything starts to fall in to place. I am here, not just to train you but to educate you to help you find your best self.
I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, from clients looking for weight-loss and/or muscle gain to senior citizens with restricted mobility to post-injury clients. Every single one of my clients has furthered my education. I know that everyone is different and there is no “one way fits all” in physical training. I do thoroughly believe in functional training and following a predetermined program to find the best results. I also believe in the necessity of strength training and cardiovascular training for all fitness levels. However, strength training does not just mean lifting weights and cardio doesn’t mean just jogging on a treadmill. I mean taking a calculated approach to correct muscular imbalances, find greater stability and balance, increase cardiovascular endurance and improve performance in the most effective and efficient way.
Lifestyle changes take commitment. You will not experience life changing results just by buying a personal trainer. You have to commit to yourself! Not just during time with me but, most importantly, during the time on your own. You and I both do not want to waste your time and money. However, if you are ready to commit to yourself and change your body and your mind for the better, I am here for you. I will be with you every step of the way and together we will make sure your journey is efficient, fruitful and, of course, fun!
