Meet the HEAT! HEAT San Marcos

We're super stoked to introduce the husband/wife team that will be joining the HEAT family to head up the new HEAT San Marcos location!  Marcus and Crystal Stautzenberger (try to say that 10 times fast) are an amazing couple that embody the HEAT mantra of bringing "more than just a workout" to their community, and we are ecstatic that they are coming on board.  Check out their personal bios below and stay tuned for more info on HEAT's San Marcos location!

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity” - JFK

Running, swimming, lifting weights, and burpees may be methods of fitness, but fitness as a whole is a principal of life. Methods come and go, change and evolve, but principals are everlasting foundations that we can apply to ourselves.

I had been a personal trainer for three years, but it wasn’t until I took command of my first platoon in the Marine Corps that I came to conclusion that fitness blended together physical strength, emotional durability, and mental resiliency.  After multiple military leadership schools and just under a decade of training experience I now truly understand the dynamic of applying the principals of fitness to everyday life.

My passion is to help others step out of their comfort zone, break stigmas and the status quo, and consistently challenge themselves.  Anthony Robbins said, “It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives.  It’s what we do consistently.”  This is what HEAT Bootcamp is here for.  It is here to create an authentic culture of leaders that will help keep each other accountable, and community in which to rely on when life comes down on you hard.

The basis of my training comes from a general rule of thumb...the wider the base the higher the pyramid.  I like to challenge people in the arena of general physical preparedness (GPP), or what I like to call brilliance in the basics.  Constantly varying basic movements and positions we use in day to day life, and spicing them up through the use of ropes, dumbbells, time limits, and reps (just to name a few). From these building blocks we can build upon our pyramids creating a masterpiece we can call our own.

I got tired of feeling sorry for myself, of wishing that things would magically fall out of the sky or be handed to me. I got tired of watching others be diligent and strive for something while I was on the sidelines with a victim mentality.....so I changed and I believe that anyone is capable of doing the same.

I decided that I wanted to be intentional. I believe that we are born with all of the talents needed to carry out our purpose on this earth. It is up to us to begin using those talents, and it is up to us to sharpen the skills required to carry out what we are put here to do.

My purpose is to empower people through health and fitness.

After serving as an Aerospace Physiology Instructor and Physical Training Leader in the United States Air Force for six years, I discovered the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and I discovered that you can have either reasons or results and only one will get you to where you want to go.

You must challenge yourself, embrace the power of the human spirit and strive towards something you want to achieve even when odds seemed stacked.

My job is to equip others with the tools, resources, and support to create both the physical and mental transformation that they desire. I believe in a focused approach when it comes to both nutrition and fitness, but I also do not think one size fits all which is why I aim for both variety and customization when it comes to routines.

I've always loved a story about a hidden world that lurks behind some ordinary door, kind of like Narnia, but I never grasped that maybe my ordinary door could unlock extraordinary experiences. HEAT is my ordinary door that has unlocked an extraordinary experience; this community AUTHENTICALLY loves what they do...we are a family and we want to include you.

Some of my other passions include creating memories with my little family (my husband Marcus and our incredible daughter Makai) and I love to write short stories and thrift shop (exciting, I know).
